Our Culture

At ABACUS, we work hard to create a culture in which our employees can grow as people and professionals. We believe a supportive culture is key to attracting, developing and retaining top-quality consultants and staff. There are three main areas in which our culture is truly unique:

 

Learning
The engine driving our success is an insatiable appetite for learning, one that shapes our relationship with clients and keeps us probing for new ideas and new ways to add value. Learning takes place primarily on the job. We strive to make learning an everyday experience for all of our people. We encourage teamwork and individual initiative in our project teams to give consultants the opportunity and support to maximize their contributions to the learning of the team and the client.

 

Leading
The concept of leadership has a powerful influence on our culture. We see ourselves as leaders in our profession, and our clients frequently become leading value creators in their industries. We emphasize and encourage three dimensions of leadership:

 

We give our clients a strategic perspective about what it takes to become a real leader in value creation.

 

We recognize and leverage the fact that each individual has unique strengths and can make distinctive contributions to our clients and our firm.

 

We seek to develop our consultants as true general managers, people who can progress to be one-on-one advisors to leaders of great companies.

 

Living
We devote a lot of energy to making ABACUS a great place to work. By that we mean a place where all individuals can strike a balance between their professional and personal lives. We create this environment through formal and informal activities and by valuing humor as an important aspect of our daily lives. We also conduct regular "one-on-one reviews" to assess consultant satisfaction with their work.
